The Phoenix Zoo is currently seeking a full-time temporary Hospital Keeper. The Hospital Keeper will work in our Animal Care Center and provide
care for any animals visiting or staying in the Animal Care Center. Keeper duties include cleaning and maintenance of animal enclosures, monitor and report on all assigned specimens paying close attention to health, behavioral abnormalities and dietary consumption. Additionally, hospital keepers will maintain daily records of animal weights and conditions, ensure an optimal environment i.e. heating, lighting, humidity for all hospitalized animals, follow isolation and quarantine protocols, and assist with restraint, crating, transfer and treatment of animals.

Minimum requirements for this position include 2 years experience in work relevant to animal husbandry, BS in Life Science or equivalent work experience, ability to bend, stoop, walk and crawl, ability to lift up to 40 lbs., ability to work in extreme weather conditions, and possession of a valid driver’s license. All Phoenix Zoo employees are required to pass pre-employment background checks including a drug test, this position will also require annual TB testing.
