The Hospitalist. RES primary d uties: Diagnose, treat, counsel & provide comprehensive care to UHC Patients. Document/maintain inpatient services records. Submit encounter-forms weekly to UHC Patient Financial Services. Obtain clinical history, conduct physical exam, determine/order clinical/lab tests needed, & interpret results. Admit/Discharge patient as needed. Res. for therapeutic measures like Nursing/Nutritional needs, counseling, prescribing meds, discharge planning etc. Communicate w/Patients' PCP upon admission, during treatment, & at discharge. Supervise midlevel practitioners, residents. Review-sign Physician Assist charts. 24hrs accessibility during "on call" duty. Accept referrals/refer from/to other Specialists/Provider/UHC providers as needed. Work w/case management serves to assist patient in their health care & social serv. needs. Attend meetings, conduct peer-review, quality improvement activities. Follow hospital's safety, environmental, policies-procedures & infection control standards.
Requirements: MD & 3Yrs Internal Med. Residency. Must have current DC License, CDS & DEA registrations. Must be Board Cert./Eligible in the specialty serv. Must participate in continuing edu. activities to maintain/enhance knowledge & skills. Must be familiar w standard concepts, practice & procedures. Must Travel between primary Unity worksite, other Unity Clinics & Dept. of Correctional facility at Washington, DC.
