Boulder County's Building Services Division is accepting applications for the position of Construction Worker I. The Construction Worker I performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled duties in the construction and remodeling of county buildings.
This is a temporary position with an anticipated duration of 16 months.
Examples of Duties:
1. Performs various labor related duties associated with building construction and
2. Performs routine duties in one of the building trades such as carpentry, drywall, painting or masonry.
3. Maintains jobsite records.
4. Assists other construction workers and supervisors as needed.
5. Reads and interprets construction drawings.
6. Performs related work as required.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: One (1) year of building construction experience
Any equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Job offer is contingent on passing a criminal background check and a pre-employment physical.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Basic knowledge of the procedures, materials and
equipment used in commercial construction. Basic knowledge of safety in the operation of tools and equipment. Ability to work effectively with other employees, agencies and the
Back and Upper Body (lifting):
Frequently lift from floor to waist with one hand 20-30 lb. power tools, equipment, and
Occasionally lift with two hands from floor to shoulder and carry 60-80
lb. bags of mortar, demolition debris, and general building materials.
At least once per day lift with a co-worker (two man lift), 100 lb. building materials such as doors, particleboards, and dry wall. Occasionally use shovels, 20 lb. pry bars, and 8 lb. sledgehammers.
Hands/Arms (repetitive motion):
Constant use of hammer, screwdriver and wrenches.
Occasionally operate 5 lb. electric screw guns and 10 lb. circular saw.
Frequently climb and work from ladders, and scaffolds.
Occasionally crawl; work on knees, and work in unusual positions.
