The Hotel Madera, a Kimpton Hotel, is seeking a Housekeeping Manager to oversee the daily housekeeping operations of this 82-room boutique property in Washington DC. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide effective leadership and supervision of Housekeeping hourly staff and ensure positive, productive partnerships with the Engineering and Guest Services teams. Lead and guide housekeeping staff through completion of daily line up and staff meetings, training, performance management, coaching and counseling. Other managerial responsibilities include payroll, recruitment, development of weekly schedules, staffing, policy/procedure compliance, federal/state employment law compliance, employee relations and recognition.
Ensure maximum quality of guestrooms and public area space in accordance with all Kimpton standards and initiatives through daily hotel and guest room inspections and walkthroughs. Develop action plans for deficiencies as needed.
Purchase, monitor and inventory all Housekeeping supplies consistent with annual and monthly budget and forecast. Generate purchase orders and maintain monthly checkbook in JDE system subject to all internal procedures and maintain appropriate cost/expense control levels.
Prepare annual budget and analyze monthly profit-and-loss statements to achieve the hotel's annual and monthly financial goals.
Maintain communication with Kimpton or hotel approved vendors and solicit bids for new vendors to achieve best pricing consistent with Kimpton procedures.
Monitor Market Metrix monthly guest ratings and develop and implement action plans to achieve hotel-specific and companywide service goals
Required Skills & Experience:
Minimum 2-3 years hotel housekeeping experience preferred with proven leadership, organizational and verbal and written communication skills required. Previous experience with preparing, interpreting and analyzing departmental financials including budget preparation, monthly checkbook maintenance, cost control/expense management, payroll, inventory levels, vendor management and purchase order processing. Positive employee relations and a commitment to service excellence are required. BS/BA degree in hotel/hospitality management or business from an accredited college or university or equivalent of combination of education and directly-related experience preferred.
