Working under the supervision of the Manager, the Housekeeping Supervisor will plan, coordinate, direct, implement, evaluate, document, report on and participate in all housekeeping-related activities, to ensure quality performance and productivity. They will perform inventory-related activities within the department including ordering, supplies, receiving and storage management and must understand all department policies and procedures as well as the fire, safety and disaster programs. The Housekeeping Supervisor utilizes Regional West Medical Center Standards of Behavior when communicating with internal and external customers.

Job Function

Demonstrates successful management skills Effectively directs, supervises, and guides housekeeping employees to ensure professional subordinate conduct Assists with annual performance appraisal for all housekeeping employees as assigned Assists with orientation with new housekeeping employees, as assigned by manager Recommends expenditures consistent with conservative department budget objectives Assumes primary role for ordering cleaning supplies Keeps sufficient inventory on hand of cleaning supplies; Accountable for department staffing Prepares work schedules for housekeeping Inspects the work schedule at least one day in advance to ensure that staffing is adequate for the upcoming shift/day Replaces employees as needed, authorizing all short-notice scheduling of employees Justifies all over time to Manager Schedule departmental meetings as necessary Responsible and accountable for all department sanitation functions Revises, implements, and enforces cleaning schedules Educates employees per proper chemical use and sanitation/special cleaning expectations Maintains and strengthens current housekeeping knowledge through mandatory attendance at staff meetings and mandatory In-services Attends Leadership meetings Department Orientation


High School Diploma or GED preferred or experience housekeeping for at least two years Supervisory experience preferred Demonstrates open and courteous communication with visiting medical professionals and non-medical professionals, other hospital departments, and referring facilities Relays pertinent information through verbal communication to all housekeeping employees and leadership team Maintains strict confidentiality of all resident information including that of family, friends, and staff Demonstrates personal accountability for fostering positive facility cohesiveness and a quality image of assisted living Contributes constructively to successful implementation of changes, new ideas, and Performance Improvement activities Shares knowledge with other staff Participates in the orientation of new staff Deals in solutions and works positively with the ideas of others Demonstrates taking responsibility for personal actions and reactions Utilizes the results of patient satisfaction surveys to initiate positive changes in his/her work and personal behaviors Participates in Service Excellence activities / programs which include reading dailies Assumes responsibility for being on time and for minimizing overtime Ability to communicate effectively using verbal and written communication skills in multiple relationships with variety of cultural and social backgrounds Ability to recognize, anticipate, and respond to the needs of all customers in a caring, respectful, and courteous manner that leads to satisfactory resolution for the customer Must be able to move throughout The Village to complete job tasks and other necessary tasks Must be to meet additional physical requirements based on assignments (see attached) Must be able to read and write English Basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) Must be able to resolve unusual or emergency situations Sight and hearing Must be able to use a variety of communication devices including telephone, computer, written and verbal skills to effectively disseminate information Ability to use all housekeeping equipment in a safe manner
