An exceptional opportunity to join the HR staff of the Virginia Department of General Services (DGS) is now available. DGS is a state government service agency supporting the citizens of Virginia and the mission of governments by delivering a variety of services: laboratory, engineering and architecture, procurement, real estate, vehicle management, and graphic design. We are seeking an experienced HR professional to manage diverse HR services in the areas of employee benefits, employee relations, performance management, transactions, leave administration, and HR policy interpretation and development. Serves as the primary liaison with the payroll office and as agency administrator of the Learning Management System (LMS). Co-supervises a staff of HR generalists who provide the full array of HR services. This position is eligible to telework one day per week.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will have extensive human resources experience, particularly in the areas of employee benefit programs and employee relations. Considerable knowledge of HR principles/practices and Federal and State laws relating to HR. A College degree with major course work in Human Resources, Public or Business Administration or equivalent training and experience is required. Experience evaluating HR issues thoroughly & providing sound alternatives/guidance to management; planning and organizing a variety of HR functions; and managing multiple priorities simultaneously within deadlines. Exceptional verbal and written communication and problem solving skills. Ability to analyze situations, interpret policies, recommend strategies and coach managers on employee relations issues. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively w/ various levels of employees/mgmt.; to develop & make presentations; to work effectively as part of a team; and to use MS Office & HRIS systems.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications: Experience with state policies and procedures associated with employee benefit programs to include health care, retirement, disability, FMLA, leave, and workers' compensation. Experience with the state's grievance procedure and Standards of Conduct is preferred. Experience with PMIS, BES, Hurman, eDirect, VNAV and LMS systems is helpful. Prior supervisory experience is preferred. PHR designation will set you apart.
