Job Purpose: Responsible for assigned performance management intiatives in direct support of the Performance Management Group’s purpose. This individual will work with other Performance Management Group team members, operations, and support service personnel including the Human Resource Department to make meaningful and sustainable system-wide improvements.

Duties:
• Consistently and effectively demonstrate WATCO Companies’ Customer First Foundation Principles in all things they do.
• Application of well-advanced knowledge and skills to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of WATCO’s Human Resource functions.
• Perform analytical support work in areas such as compensation, benefits, employee relations, performance coaching, performance evaluation, succession planning, staff development (i.e. EEOC, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, and Worker’s Compensation).
• Develop and implement training solutions to assist the other members of the Performance Management Group in implementing and sustaining system-wide improvements.
• Assist in creating and maintaining compensation plan designs; sales and incentive compensation plans.
• Identify and provide analytics to help develop and refine Human Resources planning.
• Conduct workforce analysis, including retention, headcount and employee activity.
• Work with HR team to consider reporting possibilities and to evaluate / update current processes and methods for reporting / analyzing human capital data.
• Effective utilization of process documentation and project management.
• Effective utilization of problem solving skills, including root cause analysis.
• Demonstrate change management and implementation skills.
• Communicate with all levels of the organization using various communication methods (presentation, e-mail, phone, one-on-one, written and oral).
• Conduct HR and business-specific research, analyzing data, interpreting results and making analysis involving HR related issues and opportunities.
• Consistently anticipate and deliver against defined project and action plans.
• Offer well formulated ideas and suggestions to improved moderately complex HR systems, work processes and projects.
• Provide advice, education, training and encouragement to others.
• Actively seek ways to build challenges and add value within the scope of assignments.
• Utilizing HR best practices and techniques for addressing customer concerns.
• Creating or revising Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and Local Operating Procedure documents relating to company policy and procedures.
• Actively represent the company’s best interest.
• Direct point of contact for information requests, questions, or comments concerning assigned responsibilities.

Work Environment / Conditions:
Combination of climate controlled buidings, mechanical shops, train terminals, warehouses, transload facilities.

Requirements

Education / Experience:

Required:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and/or experience
6-12 years of HR related experience
6-12 years of specialized process improvement experience
6-12 years of project management experience

Preferred:
PHR Certification, Project Management, Process Improvement, and Quality Systems
Proficiency with SAP, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook
Working knowledge of Visio and Microsoft Project
