This position is located in the Human Resources Management Office. The incumbent serves under the direction of the Human Resources Officer as an intern engaged in a training rotation through all specialty areas of Human Resources Management. The duties and responsibilities of this position require that the incumbent be trained in all areas of Human Resources. Promotion to this full performance level requires that the incumbent has made reasonable progress towards successful completion of a management training program that encompasses the entire spectrum of Human Resources Management functions to include the areas of Staffing, Classification, Pay Administration, Employee Relations and Labor Relations. *Our Commitment to You: You will be given an intense two-year training experience that will prepare you to work for VHA in the field of Human Resources. You will be provided a preceptor/mentor at your local facility as well as opportunities for on the job training in relevant subject matter areas. *Your Commitment to Us: VHA expects you to be proactive, to make learning a full-time occupation for the two-year period, to give your best effort and to seek information to learn quickly and effectively. If selected, you must sign a Mobility Statement of Understanding at the time of selection that states their ability and willingness to relocate, upon successful completion of the program, to a VHA Medical Center (nationwide) with a need for staff with their skills in the event their training facility has no vacancies. *Current VA Employees: You will be converted from a Career/Career-Conditional Appointment to an Excepted Appointment. If you are unable to complete the training, make significant progress in meeting the training expectations or find that the program is not for you (reasons unrelated to misconduct or suitability), you will be placed into a Career/Career Conditional Appointment at no lower grade or pay than the one you left prior to entry into the position.

Qualifications and Evaluations

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Group Coverage Qualification Standards for Administrative and Management Positions will be used to determine qualified candidates. GS-9; Education: Masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related OR one year of specialized experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level.

To qualify based on education, submit copy of transcript or list of courses with credit hours, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Application materials will not be returned.
