Reporting to the Executive Director of Human Resources and Financial Operations and the Human Resources Managers, the incumbent is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day human resources and payroll activities for SIPA. The HR Coordinator helps advise and ensure that HR/payroll policies and procedures are consistent and in accordance with School and University guidelines and requirements, as well as collective bargaining agreements. His/her duties include: Manage aspects of the "on-boarding" process for faculty, student and administrative hires. Duties include preparing "welcome" packets, scheduling new hire orientations and advising new employees on employment paperwork and protocols. Monitor, organize and submit appointment transactions and documentation for faculty, student and administrative hires at SIPA and its affiliated Institutes/Centers. Duties include initiating electronic and paper-based hires and rehires, supporting the roster process, verifying the accuracy of appointment status in PeopleSoft and coordinating and assisting with processing the School's bi-weekly federal work study and student casual payrolls. Oversee in-house time and attendance databases and conduct time and attendance tracking. Duties include generating attendance summaries for staff, tracking non-compliance with time and attendance deadlines, and preparing related reports. Advise managers and staff on HR practices and policies regarding time and attendance and collect data for analysis and reporting as needed. Responsible for reconciliation of bi-weekly casual, federal work study and additional compensation charges against the university's account system and in-house spreadsheets. Responsible for reconciliation of temporary staffing charges. Print and review payroll registers and verify additional compensation payments have been processed. Follow up on outstanding HR/payroll transactions. Supervise SIPA HR federal work study and casual employees. Perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications for Grade Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant

BA or equivalent required. A minimum of one year of directly related experience required.

Excellent administrative and organizational skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a team member. Acute attention to detail. Strong customer service orientation. Demonstrated ability to work in a high volume complex environment that requires confidentiality, discretion, diplomacy and tact. Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior work experience in human resources and/or financial administration in a higher education setting.
