PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES -
Strategic and Tactical HR professional needed to lead the HR function at this facility. Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
Employment Law- ensures employment laws are understood and followed;
o Employment -Attract and retain qualified people to fill vacancies; review applications and resumes, interview, recommend and select applicants for hire. Assist in conducting orientation for all newly hired employees as needed. Ensure that staffing levels are maintained for the Le Center Factory. Maintain all employee and applicant documentation as dictated by governing agencies.
o Employee Relations - investigate, resolve, and communicate in regard to employee questions, issues, or concerns related to their employment.
o Performance Management - Monitor and record Employee Performance Evaluations
o Monitor and report to payroll: FMLA usage. Maintain and distribute report of same. Monitor tardy and absenteeism reports and ensure proper documentation is issued on employees who have excessive tardiness or absenteeism problems.
o Benefits: Administer benefits for employees including new hire orientation, benefits discrepancies, short term disability, COBRA, and leave under the Family Medical Leave Act;
o Review benefits with employees and process enrollment, cancellation or changes for medical and dental insurance. Ensure that employees have current beneficiary information.
o Monitor and maintain employee eligibility for 401(k) participation. Ensure all proper paperwork is completed and distributed accordingly. Monitor employee eligibility for medical and dental insurance.
o Administrative & Decision Responsibilities of the HR Department - review all claims from Minnesota Workforce Development regarding unemployment issues, processing paperwork in a timely manner working with the third party administrator. Attend Unemployment hearings when necessary.
o Training - Schedule and facilitate required trainings;Track all training for the plant, working closely with Safety Supervisor, area managers, and supervisors to ensure that all training is completed.
o Hourly Employee Awards/Welfare - Coordinate activities related to Peer program, Safety Awards, Company Picnic, Employee Recognition Events.
o Manage and track all employee disciplinary action, including investigations.
o Coach, counsel and guide managers before the execution of employee disciplinary actions as needed
o Maintain employee personnel files, monitor and close out terminated employee files
o Responsible for ensuring compliance: monitor and update I-9 Employment Eligibility forms; maintain files for I-9 forms; verify eligibility in E-Verify.
o Other duties as required by management.
o Bachelors Degree, plus a minimum of 4 years human resources experience
o Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and/or other Human Resources programs.
o General knowledge of employment laws and practices.
o Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping.
o Effective oral and written communication.
o Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
o Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
o Excellent organizational skills.
o PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
