Novelis North America is looking for a HR Generalist to join the Regional Human Resources Team in Atlanta, GA. The incumbent provides human resource related services to the employees of Novelis North America and handles additional projects as assigned. This includes interaction with Human Resources representatives at the various Novelis plant locations to provide guidance, share best practices and ensure that policies are followed and best practices are shared.
This position entails both tactical, daily employee transactions support and project work often performed simultaneously in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment. Job holder must be able to adapt quickly, identify appropriate resources and perform duties with limited guidance. Ability to multitask and work effectively in cross-functional teams is required. Main responsibilities include the following:
Talent acquisition – perform full cycle recruiting for professional level positions, keep open communication between applicants, hiring managers and stakeholders, apply effective talent acquisition strategy to promptly fill open requisitions raising the level of talent joining the copany
On-boarding – completion of background checks, drug testing, new hire paperwork, orientation; new hire set-up in appropriate systems; ongoing support to new hires as needs and questions arise during their integration process
Status Changes/HRIS – Communicate with payroll and benefits on employee status changes (ex. new hires, transfers, off-cycle pay increases, salary adjustment, relocations, terminations); maintain accurate employment records in the Novelis systems of record, follow established processes
Manage and coordinate leaves of absences
Participate in employee total rewards management as assigned including tuition reimbursement, expatriate benefits, status changes, relocation benefits, and/or fleet management.
Enter and maintain pertinent data in the company’s Human Resource Information System (HRIS) including personnel data
Request and coordinate the preparation of routine and ad hoc reports from the HRIS
Monitor and pay HR vendor invoices
Prepare and coordinate accounting accruals related to human resource activity
3-5 years of HR generalist experience and/or full cycle recruiting required
Bachelor’s Degree with concentration in Human Resources or related field
Superior customer service skills
Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to communicate with all levels in the organization
Strong attention to detail
Must be familiar with a wide range of company policies and practices as well as applicable laws and regulations
Desire to take initiative and develop a pro-active relationship with customers through follow-up, understanding their needs and fostering a collaborative relationship
Ability to organize and prioritize workload; must be able to manage multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail
Must be flexible and able to operate in a fast-paced environment
Must be willing and able to travel to customer locations and other Novelis facilities as needed.
Solid computer skills with software applications proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
PHR Certification preferred
