SUMMER FALL 2013 INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY NOTICE TO UNDERGRADUATE OR GRADUATE STUDENTS American Civil Liberties Union Human Resources Department NY For more than 92 years the American Civil Liberties Union ACLU has been at the forefront of virtually every major battle for civil liberties and equal justice in this country. Principled and nonpartisan the ACLU has offices in all 50 states Washington DC and Puerto Rico and brings together the country s largest team of public interest lawyers lobbyists communication strategists and members and activists in the advancement of equality fairness and freedom especially for the most vulnerable in our society. The Human Resources Department of the ACLU s National Office in New York City seeks applicants for a Human Resources Recruitment Internship which will begin in the Summer of 2013. OVERVIEW The mission of the Human Resources Department is to support the goals and challenges of the ACLU by providing quality services which promote a work environment that is characterized by fair treatment of all employees open communication and increased reliability.

INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW The internship requires a 10 to 16 week commitment. The internship is full time Summer or part time Fall with weekly hours that are negotiable. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITES The internship program is designed to provide interns with the opportunity to gain valuable experience while learning and applying Human Resources best practices. Interns will work closely with the Human Resources staff on recruitment selection and diversity and inclusion programs.

Projects may include Providing assistance to identify recruitment sourcing strategies. Posting positions to job boards and websites and performing related follow up. Participating in candidate assessments scheduling interviews and preparing correspondence for candidates. Preparing recruitment and workforce analytics.

Updating tracking reports related to full cycle recruitment activities. Other projects as assigned. |DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS The internship is open to students who are currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate program who are pursuing a degree in Human Resources Management Business Administration Management or Public Administration. Must be a self starter take initiative be detail oriented a team player and possess the ability to meet deadlines.

Strong research writing and verbal communication skills. Excellent computer skills particularly web based research proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite particularly Word Excel Outlook and Power Point.
