Hurco CNC Machinist
As the Hurco CNC Machinist you will be responsible for operating the Hurco CNC Mills and Lathes during day-to-day operations in a machining facility. You will plan production machining activities daily and machinery tooling requirements. Additionally, you will advise and assist in machine selection or allocation for production optimization and cost control efficiency. Finally, you will assist in the implementation of a preventative and sustaining maintenance program of all machinery in the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Read and interpret blueprints to plan the setup and operation of all types of machine tools, both manual and CNC operated or controlled. Use full range of precision measuring and gaging tools to perform inspections as required during all processes. Start up and shut down all equipment in line with the company safety procedures, OSHA, the company STOP program, and Lock Out/Tag Out requirements. Interface with company internal design and engineering group for production planning and product manufacturing improvements. Plan, set up and operate typical machine shop CNC machine tools, produce parts to tolerance and company specifications. Use typical machinist hand tools and machine mounted electronic measurement device, or coding interfaces. Set up and test production equipment for mechanical difficulties. Trace any issues to their source and correct or identify the problem, if possible. Keep an organized workspace by cleaning up produced cuttings and machine tool operation scrap. Properly secure sources in recycling bins.
Completion of a formal machinist apprenticeship program, or a two year associates technical degree machinist program. Alternative requirement would be 10 plus years actual machinist experience with 3-5 of those years on Hurco Mills and Lathes. Familiarity with Solid works design software and Master Cam software would be advantageous. Previous experience with power driven equipment, overhaul and repair work. Ability to stand for extended periods, stooping and bending may also be required. Ability to work cautiously with costly metals, the possibility of damage or spoilage is high. Exceptional attention to detail is required in order to prevent damage to complex machine tools. Must have a high degree of mental, visual and job focus during all manufacturing operations.
