Construct, install, maintain, and repair all types of equipment in the Northfield Complex as assigned.
Skilled in the use of all hand and power tools required to overhaul and maintain all equipment at the Northfield Complex.
Work from mechanical and construction prints to complete assignments.
Use various measuring instruments as required to complete assignments.
Performing all assigned welding tasks associated with the overhauling and maintenance of all equipment at the Northfield Complex.
Laying out work requiring close tolerances, setting up and operating all machine tools including, but not limited to, lathes, grinders, drill presses, shapers, etc.
Rigging large equipment with minimum supervision
Acts as a team member with all employees of GDF SUEZ Energy staff
Complies with all GDF SUEZ Energy policies and procedures
Complies with all GDF SUEZ policies and procedures; all site and corporate safety rules and procedures
Carries out other duties as assigned
Essential Physical Abilities
Ability to respond to plant emergencies; accessible for emergency call-ins to work anytime day or night to correct problems.
Ability to work a reasonable amount of overtime as required to maintain equipment availability.
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must be physically able to do strenuous work for extended periods of time at both elevated and subterranean locations.
Must be able to work for periods of time under adverse and emergency conditions.
Must be able to use personal computer, calculator, etc.
Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
Must be able to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of
Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
Must have or be able to obtain a Massachusetts Hoisting Engineers License within 12 months of hire.
Must have or be able to achieve a Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiners Certificate within 6 months of hire.
Must have or be able to obtain a Commercial Driver License within 12 months of hire.
Must live within a 60 minute commute of the power station.
Acquire basic knowledge of the company's "Accident Prevention Manual"
Minimum must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Power plant knowledge or experince is a plus.
Machine shop familiarity is advantageous.
Welding experience is desirable.
