The Information Services Librarian provides reference and information services for students, faculty, staff, and the general public

Description of Essential Functions:
1. Plan, conduct, and publicize a program to improve information literacy skills across the College curricula; 2. Provide library instruction to faculty, staff, and students. Design print and online tutorials for use in library instruction. Teach sections of Information Literacy course as needed; 3. Assist library users with research and information needs; 4. Create, edit, and maintain library web pages and online tutorials; 5. In cooperation with the Director and faculty, evaluate and select items for the library collection, including print and non-print materials and online subscription databases. 6. Select and maintain the Library’s leisure materials collection; 7. Develop, with the Director of Library Services, policies relating to library resources and changes in library policies as needed; 8. Instruct faculty and staff on the use of library resources during staff development events; 9. Participate in training of Library paraprofessional staff in issues related to the reference questions. 10. Conduct the Library’s reference and information services, including, but not limited to: A) Using approved library policies evaluate the Reference collection and submit recommendations for additions and deletions; B) Answer reference and research inquiries; C) Implement policies of the Library governing the use of resources with regard to information services and information literacy; D) Assist in the in-service training of personnel assigned to the Library 11. Plan and supervise displays and exhibits in the library; 12. Perform other related duties as assigned

Specific Functional Job Requirements

EDUCATION: Master’s Degree from an ALA-Accredited Library Program or equivalent required. EXPERIENCE: Previous experience with instruction and reference services in an academic library setting strongly preferred. Web page design experience preferred KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of trends and current practices in reference, instruction, and information literacy; knowledge of best practices with technology in academic libraries; familiarity with and use of appropriate software and hardware to perform required duties; familiarity with HTML and web page design SKILLS: Excellent verbal and written communication skills and problem-solving ability. PERSONAL: Ability to work effectively with a broad range of people. PHYSICAL: Ability to travel within and outside district boundaries; ability to see and hear well enough to interact with patrons seeking information assistance. OTHER: N/A
