Location : Ames

Under General supervision of the Customer Support Services Manager, this position is responsible for the development and installation of CADD applications and CADD equipment. The Customer Support Team is responsible for providing the automation support for all the offices of the Iowa Department of Transportation. This position provides support of Bently products and is the liaison with Bentley on issues throughout the Agency to give source of contact for vendor solutions. This includes extensive knowledge of Microstation, Geopak, and Iplot.

Must be able to troubleshoot and work to resolution, problems with Microstation, Geopak Road, Geopak Rebar, Geopak Site, Geopak Survey, Geopak Bridge, Interplot Professional, Interplot Client and Interplot Server. This includes a working knowledge of MDL, Microstation Basic, Microstation VBA and Geopak criteria. Test all new versions and upgrades of engineering applications to ensure their functionality in the DOT’s work environment. Work with Global Positioning Systems (GPS) to further automate the workflow of the Agency. This includes the use of Trimble and Magellan GPS products for layout, grading, construction, and inspection of all aspects of the Agencies business. Develop and conduct classes for GeoPak training for offices in the Highway Division. Classes are scheduled as needed by the offices in the Highway Division. Perform additional support for hardware and software problems.

Must be able to speak and understand the spoken English language as well as have a clear comprehension of reading and writing in the English language to interact with management, technical staff, development staff, vendor staff, and users. Displays a high level of initiative, effort, attention to detail and commitment by completing assignments efficiently with minimal supervision. Displays high standards of ethical conduct. Exchanges information with individuals or groups effectively by listening and responding appropriately. Ability to plan work, think conceptually, observe and evaluate trends, analyze data, draw logical conclusions and make decisions and recommendations. Must be able to use a PC and mouse for extended period of times. Ability to use a computer workstation for 90% of the day typing, viewing a monitor, and using a mouse. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Shift : Days Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university and experience equal to two years of full-time work: operating a multi-job computer; installing, operating and coordinating computer based networks; installing/maintaining database management systems; developing business application processes; developing/operating system programs; installing/maintaining personal computers, Local Area Networks and/or servers; managing operating systems; developing/ delivering information management training; providing Information Technology (IT) customer service; or designing/ administering Internet sites.
