MAJOR FUNCTION :|
The purpose of Institutional Equity Marketing Desk at Stifel Nicolaus is to leverage the commercial nature of our equity research and maximize its impact among sales and trading. Our goal is to amplify the ideas of our analysts and serve as an idea generating source for our sales and trading division. We also coordinate the marketing efforts of our Research Analysts and coordinate Non-Deal Roadshows (provide investors with access to management teams of covered companies).
Develop and Run the Morning Research Call - Work with Analysts to understand the research and key metrics/themes pertinent to stocks we cover so that we can amplify those ideas to our sales and trading division via an actionable call.
Coordinate the efforts of analysts across different verticals when we recognize themes with cross-sector implications.
Generate actionable trade ideas for institutional clients by identifying potentially impactful macro and company specific catalysts.
Produce quantitative Bloomberg/Excel screens to highlight stocks with technical and/or fundamental attributes that may fortify our research message or fit within the context of a broader theme.
Manage the research pipeline for 1200+ stocks and work with 80 analysts to ensure the research message to sales is focused and deliverable
During Stifel sponsored industry conferences - ensure timely flow of information to the trading desk
Work with Syndicate Desk to host Managements and coordinate Analyst Teach-Ins to facilitate marketing of primary/secondary offerings
Interpret and facilitate the flow of time sensitive information between Research and Sales & Trading
Facilitate feedback to management teams following non-deal roadshows
Manage Earnings Season Flow
Manage the research pipeline and interact with research analysts to help shape the calls and delivery to sales
Coordinate call in/paperwork logistics for the Morning Research Call
Attend and Take notes in the Daily Morning Research Meeting
Work with analysts/associates to better understand their respective verticals and specific stock calls
Prepare Morning Market Summary of overseas markets, previous day market highlights/standouts, Streetwide Research Ratings Changes, etc
Prepare “Stifel Trader’s Notes” – Summarize key data points from research slated to be on that morning’s research call.
Prepare intraday Market Summaries highlighting top/worst performers, market data, top headlines, and pertinent economic data
Organize and run the Mid-Day research call
Facilitate Analyst “Break-ins” over the research hoot as market moving events hit the tape
Prepare Stifel Daily Trading Report with breakdown of Stifel trading volumes
Coordinate Analyst/Expert Conference Calls and non-deal roadshows for Research Analysts
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
B.S. Business/Economics or related major.
1-2 years experience in institutional capital markets preferred.
Proficiency in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, experience with Bloomberg a plus.
Srong writing skills; ability to read and digest large amounts of research product.
Stong initiative and sound judgement.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to meet numerous deadlines.
