Hill Air Force Base provides worldwide engineering and logistics management for the F-16 Fighting Falcon, A-10 Thunderbolt II, and the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile, and performs depot maintenance of the F-16, A-10, and C-130 Hercules aircraft. The base is located between Ogden and Salt Lake City. The area is known for year round activities, including skiing, hiking, boating, extreme sports, fishing and hunting, with four distinct seasons, low humidity and moderate snow fall in the valley.

As an Inventory Management Specialist, GS-2010-11, t

he

primary purpose of this position is to provide and maintain inventory management control over a group or groups of assigned items to support total weapon or operational equipment systems on a continuing and worldwide basis. As an Inventory Management Specialist, you will apply a broad range of item management regulations and practices. You will also:

  • Perform work associated with inventory management of a group or groups of high activity and dollar value items.
  • Applies working knowledge of established legacy systems that may include but not limited to D200, Do35, RAMP, D043.
  • Validates input data that is used in the requirements computation for items managed. This includes analyzes complex computational data for correctness as computed by D200.
  • Takes appropriate action as indicated by computation results, including initiated purchase request, terminating excess on order, and disposing of excess on hand.
  • Provides status to customers on requisitions/backorders, asset availability, repair problems.
  • Ensures requirements are entered into computation to support Foreign Military Sales customers
  • Analyzes projected repair requirements as computed the requirements system(s).
  • Independently resolves a variety of difficult/complex supply problems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE

: At the GS-11 grade level,

applicants must possess 1 or more years of specialized experience at the next lower qualifying grade level, GS-09, pay band or equivalent under other pay systems. Equivalent experience may be at the next lower grade, however, the experience must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to successfully perform the duties of the position being filled.

Specialized experience

is described as performing activities and function involved in managing a group or groups of high activity and dollar value items to support total weapon or operational equipment systems on a continuing and worldwide

basis. This involves independently analyzing and resolving difficult item management issues. Maintain stock control and distribution of assets by applying stock control and distribution principles. Applying working knowledge of established supply systems such as D200, D035, D043 and TABBS so as to input requirements data, validate requirements computation and take appropriate action. Assist Air Force and Non-Air Force customers in ensuring that requirements are procured in a timely manner and providing status on requisition, backorders, asset availability, supply problems, repair problems. Coordinates and interacts with team, customers and management to discuss issues and problems involving items managed.

EDUCATION:
Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable. A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related, is considered qualifying at the GS-11 grade level.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1.

Broad knowledge of many inventory management programs, principals, procedures, techniques, relationships and practices to include just -in-time inventory principals, components of stock level algorithms and cost of purchases.

2.

In depth knowledge of established supply systems (D035A/D, RAMP, DSS).

3.

Knowledge of acquisition processes, automated records and control systems, material substitution criteria, storage, issue and disposal processes.

4.

Skills to apply a variety of analytical methods and techniques to independently resolve difficult inventory management problems and issues.

5.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE

:

Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid work on the same basis as for paid experience. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. To receive credit for such experience you must indicate clearly the nature of the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the number of hours per week spent in such employment.

he work is primarily sedentary and is usually accomplished while the employee is seated at a desk or table.
