JOB DUTIES: This position is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Labor Division's Investigations Unit. This position will supervise, administer and perform tasks integral to the day to day operation of the Labor Division; prioritize and assign incoming cases; direct, instruct, guide and council investigation staff in carrying out assigned duties; review and evaluate staff assignments; instruct staff as to the proper statutes, rules, policies and methods used in the work system; monitor investigations of wage claims, youth employment, minimum wage and employment agencies to assure they are processed timely and in accordance with accepted policy and administrative rules; monitors databases and related records and compiles reports to evaluate efficiency and service.
KNOWLEDGE OF: Procedures and techniques for managing and supervising an investigation unit responsible for conducting specialized civil administrative investigations; Arizona administrative practices and procedures and personnel rule requirements.
SKILL IN: Interpreting and applying laws, rules and legal processes to investigations; written and verbal communication; database and internet searches and the use of personal computers and associated software; excellent customer service.
ABILITY TO: Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships; understand and work within scope of authority; identify issues and apply appropriate laws, rules and administrative procedures.
