Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of IT Analyst, Power Support Center located in Houston, TX through February 22, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).

Position Details:
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • This position will work within the Chevron Global Power Technical Services team at the Power Support Center (PSC). The Power Support Center's mission is to assist Chevron power generation facilities in sustaining world class performance. These core functions include turbine-generator/HRSG and balance of plant performance monitoring and troubleshooting, major inspection planning and execution, operations support and recommendations, engineering analysis, margin analysis, power system business plan development, and modification & upgrades project management. The team resides in Houston, TX and supports Chevron power generation facilities around the world.
  • The IT Analyst position is part of the Power Support Center team. Responsibilities include maintaining existing remote performance monitoring systems, building a sustainable centralized infrastructure, and supporting innovative technologies to meet operational needs. The position requires a self-starting individual who can prioritize numerous tasks at once and motivate others. Responsibilities will vary from dealing with fast paced troubleshooting to working on improvement and new projects.
  • Participate in IT initiatives for Power Support Center. Understand the business needs of the Power Support Center, and align work to support those objectives.
  • Provide reliable and cost-effective IT solutions and support for Power Support Center (including PI and Smartsignal applications, servers, networks, and security). Support existing and new deployments at remote sites.
  • Facilitate access to operational data from the Chevron "enterprise" and remote sites through Sharepoint and other enhanced tools.
  • Work closely with Chevron IT to resolve IT-related issues and maintain IP compliance of all systems.
  • Coordinate future upgrades/migration of existing performance monitoring software and hardware. Help develop the vision for incorporating new enhanced tools and process to expand PSC capabilities.
  • Develop evergreen processes for the sustainability of IT systems.
  • Provide problem solving and technical recommendations in support of PSC performance monitoring tools and initiatives. Stay current on technology associated with control systems and performance monitoring tools, acting as SME for PSC and remote sites.
  • Support continuous improvement and standardization for PSC work processes. Understand and apply metrics for tracking Enterprise Value Creation.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Broad technical knowledge in key IT functions such as hardware/software, architecture/infrastructure, network security, and information management is expected.
  • The position also requires the ability to understand trending and predictive maintenance computer programs, which interact with process control networks.
  • Experience with OSIsoft PI Processbook/Datalink, SmartSignal, Sharepoint, and advanced Excel functions are required.
  • General knowledge of the power generation industry is a plus.
  • The preferred candidate will have been someone who has proven history of taking initiative to set direction and achieve results in operations-focused environment.
  • Bachelors Degree (or equivalent) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline or prior work experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Broad technical knowledge in key IT functions.
  • Experience providing innovative technical solutions, providing application support, and conducting user training.
  • Experience standardizing work processes and documenting procedures.
  • Strong oral and communication skills, which may require use of translators with international sites.
  • Proficiency in OSI PI Data Historian software tools is required.
  • Proficiency in SmartSignal predictive analysis software tool required.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Windows/IIS administration.
  • Experience with MS Sharepoint is required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with GE, Siemens-Westinghouse, and other turbine control systems.
  • Experience with Emerson, Bailey, Honeywell, Yokogawa or other DCS systems.
  • Experience maintaining web applications using JSP, ASP, JavaScript, HTML, and SQL.
