Job Purpose

The IT Auditor will contribute to audit reviews of systems and security, within Jackson and across the other Business units in the Prudential UK Group as required. This position is primarily responsible for executing IT audits to assess the adequacy of the information systems control environment with supervision.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

Execute Information Technology audits and contribute to other audit reviews of major technology applications, infrastructure, and processes as needed.

Conduct risk assessments of current initiatives as well as implemented processes and technologies to verify compliance and assist the business in identification of improvement opportunities.

Provide management with objective analysis, detailed observations and recommendations relating to IT risk areas to mitigate the spectrum of risks.

Assist management by giving assurance on, and identifying opportunities for, improvement of processes and controls regarding all aspects of Information Technology.

Supports more senior audit staff with the delivery of audits as assigned including planning, fieldwork, reporting, observation management, and closure.

Develop positive relationships with IT and the business by delivering to them value adding assessments as part of performing a quality audit of Information Technology.

Interview management, document the key processes and associated controls examined in the audit, and ensure the Audit Manager is kept informed on the evolution of the planning work.

Develop and execute audit tests that maximize efficiency and effectiveness of the audit process, ensuring a high-degree of assurance in accordance with professional and company standards.

Work collaboratively with business unit management in developing action plans to address identified Information Technology risks by providing relevant and practical recommendations.

Participate in observation follow up by management, and review evidence of completed agreed actions to close observations.

Other Duties

Performs other special projects or duties as assigned.


Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

Understanding and working knowledge of mainframe, midrange, distributed/client server, and or web application platforms.

Technical expertise, objectivity and unquestioned integrity are essential elements of the position.

Strong organizational skills and ability to successfully interact with various levels of business unit management, and manage projects effectively to time, quality, and cost.

Strong analytical skills and overall business acumen.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

High attention to detail and rigorous logical thinking ability.

Good team player, who can win and maintain the professional respect of the team.

Working knowledge of various professional auditing standards and ability to apply them effectively.

PC skills, Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Microsoft Project, Visio flowcharting, ACL audit software and audit productivity software packages.

Willingness to travel.

Education and Experience Required

Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in computer science or accounting, or equivalent experience.

Minimum 2 years experience (or 1 years public accounting) in information technology auditing or advisory role to senior IT and Business management; insurance or financial services industry experience is a plus.

Professional designations such as CISSP, CIA, CISA , CISM, or CGEIT preferred.

Demonstrable (portfolio evidence) experience of influencing and challenging senior IT and Business management and building excellent relationships.
