Note: Position may be filled as an IT Specialist, IT Consultant, IT Consultant Sr. depending upon qualifications and skills of applicant.
IT Specialists and Consultants provide IT guidance and services to internal clients, as well as execute the physical delivery and ongoing support of products and services, applications, network systems, and overall solutions. Roles within this job family also perform the following high-level functions:
Perform system software upgrades, workstation setups and server configurations
Maintain software and hardware inventories
Analyze and develop short and long term solutions to IT needs through developing new applications as well as modifying or adapting existing ones
Coordinate with users to define, develop and review IT requirements and business process improvements
Review requirements and business processes, including but not limited to coding, testing, debugging, and implementing software applications
Provide support or development of strategies and business cases for IT inclusive of financials, contracts or projects
Provides project and vendor oversight and facilitates communications between other internal organizations including but not limited to compliance, security, legal, and procurement.
Qualifications
Knowledge of EMS/SCADA realtime software development, knowledge of Alstom software is preferred
C++, Visual Studio, .NET, HP experience
Working knowledge of Windows and Linux environments
Critical thinking skills to solve problems in a 24/7 environment
Ability to interface with system/network administrators and business users equally well
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Working knowledge of process control computer system concepts, database management, SCADA systems, diagnostic methodology, and computer system management issues.
Ability to learn new skills and concepts quickly, both formally and informally.
Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision, be self-motivated, and self-directed.
