One current vacancy with the Tulare County Information and Communications Technology Department in Visalia. This recruitment will establish an employment list to fill current and future vacancies throughout the County. The anticipated life of the list is six months.

Typical Duties:
Works closely with technical and administrative personnel, taking responsibility for writing and editing technical documentation; produce documentation including Online Help, Knowledgebase, Training, Policies/Procedures, User Manuals, and Business Processes that is well written, presented, and communicates effectively and efficiently to the end-user; create, update and enhance the documentation, adhering to format, content and style guidelines, giving consideration to usability and ensuring accuracy, consistency and quality. r outinely executes duties without guidance; works on more complex work assignments.

Employment Standards:
Education/Experience - Any combination of education and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be Associates Degree in Business, English, Journalism, Computer Science or related field and one (1) year work experience in a computer setting; OR two (2) years work experience in related documentation position or technical writing, in lieu of educational requirements. Specialist II: In addition to the above, six (6) months or more experience as an IT Documentation Specialist I; OR three (3) years work experience in related technical writing or training documentation field. Knowledge of - Correct usage of English grammar, Business Process Flow documentation, Web, Document version control /management, and ADA standards related to disabled persons access to documentation.
Skill/Ability to - Organize, communicate and write effectively with an eye for detail, Grasp complex software and learn quickly, work within tight deadlines, be proficient in Microsoft Word and Imaging Software (Corel Draw, Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro) for screen capturing, manage multiple projects at the same time and excellent customer service and interpersonal / communication skills.

Additional Information:
Desirable Employment Standards - Experience with HTML/XML, Adobe Acrobat, and document management systems. Conditions of Employment Candidates selected will also be required to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Additionally, a background investigation may also be conducted. Some job classes may also require a physical exam.
