IT Field Office Support Representative
PROGRAM/POSITION IDENTIFICATION
The Cooperative Agricultural Support Services Authority in conjunction with the California Department of Food and Agriculture staff operate in over 100 locations in Northern, Central and Southern California Regions. Staff in these offices rely on the Office of InformationTechnology Services (OITS) to provided centralized oversight for all IT related equipment, networks and software.
Under general supervision of the Service Desk Manager, and the direct oversight from the Field Office Support Project Coordinator, the incumbents will perform a variety of analysis, development, implementation, installation, procurement, and support tasks for Department information technology systems. The incumbent will also perform a full range of information technology customer support service duties to provide assistance in software and new system deployments to the Department.

Salary: $32,000 - $37,440 annually
ESSENTIAL AND NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
A. Essential Functions: Function #1: Field Office Support - 65%
Conduct onsite visits at assigned field offices and locations
Travel to offices at various locations throughout the state to troubleshoot IT systems
Request service on equipment or software as needed
Provide timely response to Service Desk calls in a professional manner
Provide onsite resolution to information technology systems
Train and assist staff in the use of standard CDFA software and hardware
Perform software and hardware testing, monitoring, and troubleshooting tasks
Perform software/hardware upgrades as necessary; verify component and software compatibility
Participate with other analysts to configure hardware and software protocols
Function #2: Installation and Deployment of Software and Hardware - 25%
Deploy new and replacement computer systems to users
Install software and hardware on existing systems
Perform software/hardware upgrades and updates as necessary
Verify component and software compatibility with Windows 7 systems
Independently or with other analysts to trouble-shoot hardware and software protocol conflicts
Assist with the development of computer hardware and software training
B. Non-Essential Functions: Function #3: Special Projects - 5%
Participate in various teams to support the enterprise-wide information technology infrastructure
Participate in various Departmental teams to support the enterprise-wide information technology infrastructure. Participate with other analysts to develop policies, procedures and documentation for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of supported IT systems
Conduct special assignments and projects as needed
Function #4: Administrative Duties - 5%
Receive from and ship product to Sacramento’s Main Office as required
Update inventory records, and track new hardware and software
Attend training to develop knowledge, skills and abilities
Participate in Service Desk Staff Meetings via Remote Video Conferencing or in person when necessary
Other duties as required
KNOWLEDGE
Incumbent must the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The incumbent is required to operate a personal computer and utilize Word and Outlook. The use of PowerPoint, Excel, and McAfee Suit products is desirable. The incumbent must have reliable interpersonal and team building skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; dependable judgment; and good organizational skills.
Incumbent must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during the course of the work; work well under pressure; make appropriate decisions and well thought out recommendations; work independently in completing assigned work; and meet required deadlines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The duties of this position require the ability to sit, stand, speak, see, and hear in order to give presentations; to sit for extended periods of time and utilize a ‘mouse’ in order to operate a computer terminal; to participate at meetings; and to interact with other staff.
Must be able to push buttons on a keyboard, calculator, photocopy machine, FAX, and telephone; grasp papers, small objects, and manuals; reach above shoulder level to access upper files and cabinets; bend or stoop below waist level to access lower files and cabinets; and occasionally lift up to twenty-five pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The duties of this position are primarily conducted indoors. Each desk includes at least one computer, with various software programs, including e-mail, a telephone with voice-mail, and stationary filing drawers and bins.
