Chevron's Information Risk Strategy Management organization (within ITC) is seeking a self-directed professional with forensics background to fill the open position of IT Forensics Investigator. The primary purpose of this position is to conduct computer forensic investigations, data recovery, and electronic discovery. The candidate will be expected to have a solid foundation of technical experience and expertise, possess strong communication skills, and provide quality results through strong analytical skill.
The successful candidate will work with an experienced team of forensic professionals, legal project managers, attorneys, security and corporate partners. The successful candidate will possess forensic experience and a strong understanding of information security concepts and methodologies. This position will require a strong grasp of technical infrastructure including: PC hardware, PC and server operating systems, network security and system logs, Outlook/Exchange Messaging, databases such as SQL, network printers, PDAs, cell phones and other new technology challenges.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
The candidate will provide forensic functions to collect, preserve, filter/search, analyze digital artifacts and report the findings.
A majority of the forensic work is focused on unstructured electronic content (e.g. email, files, spreadsheets, hard drive objects).
4-7 years in computer forensics and technical investigations.
Bachelor's degree preferred in one of the following fields: Information Technology, Criminal Justice, or Computer Science. (A combination of an AA degree and a minimum of 3 years of Forensics experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelors degree).
Ability to understand Data Privacy laws and maintain confidentiality is critical.
Must thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment, where every hour is prioritized, by increasing demands.
Must be able to manage multiple projects under the rigors of a computer forensics lab. Having the ability to multi-task is critical.
Must be very detail-oriented, and must be able to interact with other staff and clients, in person or by phone.
Critical thinking, problem solving and the ability to endure long working hours is vital.
Demonstrated experience of managing day to day aspects of client relationships, as well as forensic cases and corporate incidents is a must.
Ability to work extremely well under pressure while maintaining a professional image and approach with clients is critical.
IT Infrastructure Proficiency with the following: MS operating system, PC hardware & networking, MS Outlook & Exchange Messaging, and various other technologies.
Experience in building and implementing standard operating procedures and processes pertaining to IT Security.
Forensic experience in the following areas: conduct acquisitions; single and complex, forensically preserving the evidence, conduct artifacts analysis using forensics tools, and having the ability to write comprehensive findings reports.
Awareness of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedures and Federal Rules of Evidence.
Strong communication and presentation skills including the ability to interface with other parts of the organization such as global security including external security consultants and Law, internal and external counsels.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
Possession of professional certifications and membership in professional associations is highly desirable.
CFCE, CCE, ENCE, ACE or ENCEP desired.
Corporate security, corporate litigation, cyberspace investigation background desired.
Strong background in forensic lab practices and procedures and evidence handling.
Experience in law enforcement, basic investigations or with a professional services firm is preferred.
A combination of education and experience related to the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.
