WITNESS was co-founded in 1992 by musician and activist Peter Gabriel as the realization of Peter's vision of capturing the stories of human rights atrocities on video and putting them at the forefront of human rights campaigns. Since then, WITNESS has trained and partnered with thousands of human rights activists to utilize video for change in over 80 countries all over the world.
WITNESS is seeking an IT Help Desk Specialist to support the help desk requests, assist with day-to-day basic troubleshooting that occurs with the computer, networking and server equipment around the office. We are looking for someone to assist in supporting our help desk and system administration in a multi-media enriched and human rights environment. We prefer people that are great with macs, have windows experience and any experience with windows servers. This will be a 2-3 days a week, part time, consultancy for about 10 weeks with a possibility of extending. Reports directly to IT Coordinator
Help Desk Ticket User & System Assistance
Diagnosing and Solving Computer Hardware and Software Application Issues
Creative Workarounds to computer woes
Training of basic computer techniques to users
The ideal canddiate will have:
Education: Relevant Bachelor’s required; A minimum of 1-3 years experience working in Help Desk or related field
Mac (required) / Windows Help Desk & Application support experience
Excellent communication skills verbal and written documentation skills are a must
Provide technical support and trouble-shooting for help desk tickets submitted by staff and volunteers (e.g., installing computers, software, peripheral and network equipment; configuring workstations; resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues; setting up new users; mobile technology and device support)
Microsoft Office Support; Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Google Apps Support; Gmail, Google Calendar, Contacts and Google Apps
Repairing/upgrading computer hardware and software
Troubleshooting basic hardware and connectivity issues with printers/scanners/copiers
Diagnosing hardware and software problems
Installing, re-installing and updating programs and operating systems
Network & Device Connectivity (i.e TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS etc.)
Windows/Server & Active Directory experience is a plus
