Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Participate in 24x7x364 shift coverage in support of Chevron's most critical IT Assets.
Respond to major incidents and ensure that the right people are engaged to fix the problem.
Own the IT Company Major Incident bridge call and direct the activity of all responding resources including internal technical resources, vendors, and managers.
Guide incident responders in analytical troubleshooting.
Send timely, accurate communications to end users and management to give status.
For in-scope Incidents and Near-misses, facilitate the Root Cause Analysis investigation.
Identify root causes, assign action items, and ensure timely adherence to the RCA process by process participants.
While on shift, maintain daily contact with monitoring teams and service desks.
Review forward schedule of change reports across the enterprise to assess risk and maintain awareness of potential trouble areas.
Review Incident, Change, and Reliability data for trends, summarizing findings and recommendations for consumption by audiences ranging from IT professionals to the CIO.
Follow up to measure results of mitigating actions initiated as a result of trend analysis.
Maintain regular contact with key technical teams that support the Company's most critical IT Assets.
Become expert in the company's systems and support structures including incident management, business continuity, and disaster recovery practices.
B.S. in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related discipline
3-5 years technical background in a high availability computing environment - generalist preferred.
Logical thinker with the ability to evaluate complex systems and identify where problems are located.
Professional, calm and tactful at all times.
Proven Analytical Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis skillset (5-why / Why Tree).
Demonstrated ability to influence colleagues above and below the position holder's salary grade.
Experience supporting production enterprise-class infrastructure or applications
Knowledge of Chevron IT Organization structure and key technical personnel a plus.
Relocation will not be considered within Chevron parameters.
