Provide system support & maintenance of Linux functionality as it applies to the broader FPD classified infrastructure. This includes evaluation & implementation of new Linux distributions, software evaluation & installation, operating system & software updates, hardware evaluation & installation, ensuring proper network configuration to enable communication with other operating systems such as Windows.
Maintain system security and compliance with in the DSS ODAA and NISPOM guidelines by utilizing and expanding upon FPD's Splunk monitoring software to perform weekly log audits. Work with other KIT ISSO/ASSISSO's to optimize Linux system performance within the DSS ODAA NISPOM. Collaborate with CISSO on future implementations of security requirements.
Act as a day to day operations support representative for FPD's classified resources. Ongoing tasking includes user account creation, password resets, and generally assisting users to maintain a productive and useful classified environment.
Prepare for "short fuse" sea tests by designing and building isolated networks for installation in the field or on sponsor locations. This requires occasional travel and time spent at the sponsor locations, including naval bases.

BS in Information Technology (IT) or related field with at least 3 years of relevant experience or 6+ years of equivalent relevant experience in the IT field administering Unix/Linux systems. Extensive demonstrated experience in computer networking. SuSE Enterprise Linux and Redhat Advanced Server/Workstation including ability to modify and build kernels. Prior experience and working knowledge of shell scripting, Apache, IIS, HTML, GNU software, Java, MySQl and AIS (system and network security) under NISPOM regulations. Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and solve complex problems. Ability to develop technical effective solutions. MUST have Secret clearance.
Occasional travel to field test sites or on board Navy or research vessels to install/deinstall.
