The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is the nation's most effective environmental action organization. We use law, science and the support of 1.3 million members and online activists to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all living things. NRDC was founded in 1970 and our staff helped write some of America's bedrock environmental laws, including the Clean Water Act, and many of the implementing regulations; our water enforcement cases played a major role shaping current water policy throughout the country. Today, our staff of more than 430 lawyers, scientists, economists, policy and communications experts, and others, work out of offices in New York, Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Livingston, Montana and Beijing.

Position Summary :
We are seeking a full-time IT Manager of Infrastructure & Operations to oversee and manage NRDC’s infrastructure. This position will be based out of our New York office and will lead IT’s team of technical engineers to ensure the continual operation of our network and systems organization wide.

Responsibilities :
Providing technical expertise and leadership across the primary technologies that are deployed at NRDC

Maintenance of servers

Hardware and software upgrades

Manage security programs, firewalls and proxies

IT audits

Disaster recovery planning and testing

Providing technical support and expertise to emerging IT initiatives

The research, purchase and implementation of new technologies

Qualifications :
10 to 15 years of experience as a senior technology professional

A minimum of 5 years managerial experience

A Bachelor’s Degree

Superior interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders

Demonstrated ability to successfully distill complex technical information into clear, concise yet comprehensive communication material

Demonstrated ability to meet rigorous deadlines while managing multiple projects concurrently

Thorough experience within all areas of infrastructure including network integration

Technical implementation experience across a broad set of technologies (network, virtualization, storage, servers, Citrix, SharePoint)

Certification is preferred but not required (MCSE, MCP, CCNA, A+, or Net+)
