Provide thought leadership and technical recommendations, planning and execution to upgrade and improve the current state of key communications systems such as; Voice networks, infrastructure and software, Data network, infrastructure and software, Email infrastructure and software, Instant messaging / collaboration infrastructure and software, Intranet infrastructure and software. Member of the IT Operations leadership team that is responsible for the daily operation of all IT systems delivering cost effective “run-the-engine” support solutions. Must demonstrate excellent inter-personal communication and team building skills; serve as a technical mentor within the team, and foster a 'team-first environment.
Manage and mentor team of 3 - 5 skilled IT professionals responsible for delivering IT Infrastructure systems. Perform annual reviews, provide frequent mentoring feedback, lead the creation and implementation of employee development plans and implement cross training processes between IT Infrastructure teams.
Spearhead planning, design and implementation of new infrastructure systems and applications. Determine and maintain budgets for installation of these projects. Specific areas include: Data and voice networks, MS Sharepoint, MS Exchange, MS Lync, load balancing, proxy serving, DHCP, DNS.
A hands-on role, heavily involved in the overall architecture, design, implementation and production support activities related to IT Operations Infrastructure. Work with informal architecture group to define technical direction and acceptance of relevant technologies.
Provides technical consulting, within specific area of expertise. Develops and maintains procedures to enable a rapidly growing business and solve complex problems surrounding Server Network Storage and Website interoperability and performance.
Interact with other IT leadership in the overall support of IT Operations in a cooperative spirit enabling individuals to succeed without regard to reporting structure.
Provide written and verbal status reports, progress reports and operating health updates to senior leadership team both within IT and business departments. Updates need to be timely and written in business appropriate verbiage to capture the relevance of the status as it pertains to the business.
This position operates in a 7x24x365 real time environment, requiring on-call duty, flexible work hours and off-hours leadership for maintenance and scheduled downtimes. Participation in the delivery of system upgrades, new installations and applications.
The successful individual will possess a BS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, plus at least 8 years of relevant job experience is required.
Must be a strong technical leader with experience implementing IT Infrastructure systems across the enterprise while paying special attention to technologies supporting a “Top 50 ecommerce site”.
The candidate must be a team player with a positive ‘can do’ attitude and is able to lead team members through difficult interactions with business customers and peer IT team members. The candidate must set aside time for proper documentation and project planning.
