General Function:

Designs, develops, maintains, and supports software applications.

Reporting Function:

This position reports directly to an IT Software Development Supervisor.

Representative Activities and Accountabilities:

The specific job duties of this position are:

1. Be involved in all levels of software development, including requirements definition, specification, design, implementation, testing and integration, documentation, maintenance, and customer support.

2. Provide leadership in adherence to ARUP’s established software life cycle standards.

3. Provide leadership in the performance of source code reviews.

4. Perform technical writing duties related to the design and documentation of software applications

5. Perform quality assurance duties related to software products, including unit testing and system functionality testing.

6. Provide programming leadership and training to IT Software Programmer/Analysts and IT Software Programmers.

7. Participate in continuing education activities in order to improve development skills and provide leadership in keeping ARUP up-to-date on software development tools and other technological innovations that may be pertinent to the company’s development efforts and environments.

8. Provide direction to IT Software Programmer/Analysts in software design activities.

9. Maintain expertise in and define ARUP’s evolving software development tools and environments through collaboration with technical leads, project managers, and managers.

10. Provide leadership in promoting a positive, professional, and productive work environment among ARUP programmers.

Job Qualifications

Education/Credentials required:
Bachelor’s degree in computer related major plus eight (8) years of on-the-job software development experience, or high school diploma (or equivalent) plus ten (10) years of on-the-job software development experience.
Experience/skills required:
Four (4) years of on-the-job experience to include the use of the following software development languages: .

o C# o

· Four (4) years of on-the-job experience to include software design experience with demonstrable expertise in user interface design .
Physical and other requirements:
Must posses a collaborative management style (team player).
· Must have excellent organizational skills, as well as written/verbal communications skills.
· Must have excellent analytical skills.
· Ability to work all required overtime.
· Must be able to work independently.
· Must have good presentation skills.
· Must demonstrate professional demeanor, in personal appearance and behavior, in all work-related interactions inside and outside of the place of employment.
· Must posses a high reputation for integrity and honesty in relationships.
Prefer advanced experience in web development and C# using Microsoft Visual Studio, automated unit testing, WPF, IOC, TDD, SQL, Entity Framework, and agile methodologies. Applicant must possess a collaborative/ cooperative working style.
