Perform routine application support tasks, as assigned, using best practices for both classified and unclassified computing
environments. Assist with the deployment and maintenance of software and associated platforms, both commercial and developed
in-house. Participate in projects performing tasks according to plan and schedule. Most tasks are assigned by supervision for this
1 Application Support and Maintenance: Resolve end user support requests related to the software application environment in
accordance with established best practices and procedures. Diagnose and solve application problems. May perform routine
application and platform maintenance activities. Assist with maintenance of user training materials and application
documentation for educating end users and new IT staff. Document resolution of requests in the service desk tracking
2 Software Application Development: Assist with modifications, updates, upgrades and improvements to existing software
applications and platforms. Assist with development of new software applications and platforms. Software development
efforts are typically performed with guidance from more senior programmer analysts.
3 Database Development and Support: Assist with support for existing databases. Assist with development of new
databases. May perform routine database maintenance activities. Efforts are performed in accordance with best practices.
4 Projects: Participate as a team member with management, other team members, and end-users on projects; execute project
tasks according to plan and schedule.
5 Performs other duties as assigned.

1 Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience required.
2 Experience: 3 years of application support/software development or equivalent experience required.
3 Skills: Technical skills including basic understanding of application development and support processes, web application
platforms and database concepts (e.g. SharePoint, SQL Server, Visual Basic, etc.). Basic knowledge and experience with
desktop and server operating systems (e.g. Windows desktop and server operating systems). Strong interpersonal skills are
required for interfacing with department members, internal customers, and vendor representatives; good information
organization skills; ability to write clear, concise, and accurate documentation and provide training. Demonstrated initiative
and ability to work well with others; excellent customer service skills; willingness to work and stay current with new
technologies and work overtime when required; and good oral and written communications skills.
4 Ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret Security Clearance.
