Under the direction of the Chief Information Officer or delegated authority, this position is responsible for managing people, programs and projects involving department or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of a product or program through the design process and into a finished state for internal or external customers. Coordinates all aspects of project and serves as manager for project team who are the liaison between project management, line management and other departments. Plans and directs schedules as well as project budgets. Monitors the product/program/project from initiation through delivery, interfacing with customer on all matters. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals. Organizes interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the product/program/project on schedule and within budget constraints. Assists customer in analysis and development of business requirements and Requests for Proposal.
Works closely with vendors to evaluate most appropriate use of systems and products.
This position performs its duties and responsibilities in accordance with the MIHS mission and core values. In addition, as a Senior Project manager will, under the guidance of the Program Manager and Director of IT Business and Project Management, m
entor and develop junior project managers towards successful project initiating, planning, execution and monitoring.
Upon request, the Sr. Project Manager may be asked to assist or take over Projects that are in jeopardy. Provide guidance and instruction to IT and Business team members to convey the value of good project management and to educate them on the Project Management methodologies and practices followed by MIHS.
Take a lead role in developing and maintaining policy, procedure, standards and methodologies relating to Project Management at MIHS.
Educate others of the application of standard methodologies and best practices.
Take a lead role in developing performance metrics for the IT department and in defining processes and systems to collect and report on project progress and other performance measurements.
Requires a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Business or other related field
; or an equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience that will result in the required specialized knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned work.
Must have at least three (3) years of Information Technology complex project management experience (10 years required if no four year degree).
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required.
Must have demonstrated experience as a successful leader of people and projects.
Will be able to inspire and motivate a team.
Must be approachable, people oriented and a good listener.
Requires a change-agent able to reengineer, develop, implement and maintain policies and processes; and a creative and an independent thinker.
Must have experience developing, monitoring and controlling operating budgets within the areas of responsibility.
Must possess solid analytical and problem-solving skills along with the ability to utilize the appropriate management techniques to plan, organize, control and coordinate IS activities.
Requires strong hospital business knowledge and experience successfully implementing multiple complex projects simultaneously using structured project management methodology.
In addition, the successful candidate will provide Tier III Support to the production environment.
As such, expert troubleshooting abilities with experience resolving hardware and operating system issues is required.
Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
