Chevron Information Technology Company (CITC) Project Management Organization provides project management and consulting services for Chevron business and IT projects, and is responsible for ensuring the projects are executed with excellence. This Project Manager position reports to the Houston Team Lead.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Deliver superior results in the management of IT projects throughout the project life cycle from original concept through final implementation.
Lead / Supervise project resources to achieve project goals, including oversight and management of external resources and global virtual teams.
Create, track, and manage comprehensive, realistic project schedules and measure progress regularly.
Manage project scope and control project costs within developed budget.
Develop budget and staffing plan to build a high performance, multi-functional team with expertise necessary to achieve project objectives.
Communicate regularly and effectively with stakeholders regarding project goals, objectives, deliverables, plans, risks, and status throughout the project.
Make and communicate tactical decisions as necessary when balancing questions between cost, schedule, technical functionality, and quality.
Understand and apply IT project management principles and tools, follow CPDEP (Chevron Development & Execution Process) for IT.
Understand, consider, and clearly communicate enterprise trade-offs on decisions, framing decisions as clear, simple business choices.
Complete projects in accordance with time, cost, and quality constraints (on time, on budget, on scope with quality).
Apply critical thinking skills, including systems and business analysis, problem analysis and resolution, and good judgment. Make sound and timely decisions.
Where appropriate, partner with business unit staff to conduct feasibility studies and develop business cases.
Ensure a smooth transition from the project team to the respective Operational and Support Groups.
Champion incorporation of Operational Excellence and Incident Free Operations in all aspects of project planning and execution.
Some travel may be required depending on project specific needs.
Bachelors degree in one of the following areas; Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or MBA with strong IT background.
Minimum of five years project management experience.
Demonstrated Leadership and ability to deliver superior results.
Excellent at project planning, critical thinking and managing project controls.
Excellent customer engagements and communication skills.
Proven working knowledged of project methodology.
Experience in Information Technology.
Recent experience with managing medium to large scale IT application development and/or infrastructure projects.
Experience with major Chevron businesses
Good working knowledge of CPDEP methodology
Chevron CSOC (Capital Stewardship Organizatoinal Capability) Certification.
Good working knowledge of the software / systems development life cycle (SDLC).
Experience working in a global organization.
Experience leading virtual teams.
Experience in managing vendors.
Project management certification (PMI' PMP or equivalent) preferred.
Relocation will not be considered within Chevron parameters.
