The Purchasing Agent and Administrative Assistant will provide purchasing, requisition, and vendor management process support to the Power and Water IT team based in Atlanta. The person obtains requirements by verifying, preparing, and forwarding requisitions and purchase orders; verifies receipt of items and authorizes payment. The person provides IT license management support and also works closely with the Power & Water Vendor Management Leader to implement policy and procedures.
In addition, in this role you will:
Review requisition and purchase orders for IT contracted services and products and ensures conformance to company policy
In conjunction with IT project managers, prepares requisitions, purchase orders, eAuction bid request and manages the lifecycle of the requests including exception approval
Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures specific to the PGS IT department
Meet with PGS IT project managers to determine purchasing needs and partners with Sourcing and Finance for requisitions, contracts and payments as applicable
Manages the vendor management and procurement process and metrics for PGS IT, in conjunction with Power & Water VMO and Sourcing
Ensure eAuction process adherence and track compliance
Identify and develop IT project manager training related to purchasing and contracted services management processes
Provides light (not complete) administrative support to several IT executives in Atlanta such as scheduling complex meetings and making occasional complex international travel arrangements
Reviews and respond to emails and phone calls from other key management personnel across GE as required, using discretion and judgment in gathering and conveying pertinent information in a timely manner
Use of Accounts Payable services for check requests
High School Diploma/GED
Minimum 5 years professional work experience with at least 3 years of purchasing/ accounting experience

Demonstrated work experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks
Strong analytical skills; ability to work with numbers
Accurate and attentive to detail, superior writing and editing skills, able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interface with all levels of management
Adaptable / flexible – being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and/or to work in ambiguous situation.
Proven ability to work with senior level executives, both internal and external
Ability to ensure security of confidential information
Extensive follow-up, attention to detail and accuracy
Flexibility with overtime on short notice
Strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills
Ability to support multiple projects and balance conflicting needs
Knowledge of GE processes and procedures is preferred
Prior office management experience
Self-starter able to work on own initiative and well in a team environment
Resourceful, proactive, assertive, detail oriented, energetic, with flexible attitude
Ability to work well in team environment and to perform under pressure and against tight deadline
