In this challenging role you will perform administration and technical support for security systems. Assists in resolving technical security solutions related to firewalls, encryption, intrusion detection systems, vulnerability scanning, security monitoring tools, authentication, web filtering, identity management and access control systems, logs and processes. Assists with the analysis, recommendations, testing, implementation of security systems and processes.

Supervision Received: Performs work under the direct supervision of a Team Lead or Manager.

Job Accountabilities:
Participates in technical planning for computer software, hardware, maintenance contracts, and budgeting.

Assists in planning, design, and implementation of security solutions.

Provides primary or secondary technical support for security systems, including centralized logging, security testing, encryption, identity management, firewalls, intrusion detection, authentication, proxy, and remote network access systems.

Provides technical guidance and information to other security team members related to the daily security system administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mainframe, dial up and client/server security systems and assists when necessary.

Participates in low to medium complexity company, department level, and team level projects impacting security. Stays informed of progress on company, department, and team level projects impacting security.

Assists in creation of presentations for security projects, proposals and initiatives.

Leads evaluation of systems for security threats and conducting security vulnerability assessments. Recommends appropriate physical security controls for the corporate Data Centers and IT servers.

Works with leadership, information security analysts, and other IT areas to ensure that systems have been properly hardened, security issues have been properly addressed, and optimal security systems solutions have been implemented.

Responsible for basic phases of security systems administration including policy management, installation, maintenance, testing, debugging and documentation.

Assists with the development and execution of disaster recovery and contingency plans for security architecture.

Assists in the creation and maintenance of security policies, procedures, standards and documentation.

Remains knowledgeable of and monitors compliance to and assists in the enforcement of all approved security policies, standards and processes.

Executes processes to monitor security violations in order to detect potential security/policy breaches. Reports findings to team and management as deemed appropriate.

Assists the analysis and implementation of secure solutions for corporate systems.

Executes work processes which comply with security policies. Prepares and maintains operational documentation. Establishes procedures for the Help Desk to resolve minor security issues and problems.

Develops and implements security training and education programs.

Identifies, plans, implements, documents, and complies with procedures for complying with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection (NERC CIP) regulations.

Stays informed of laws and regulations impacting information security. Provides leadership on related projects to ensure compliance with laws and regulations. Keeps abreast of changes in threats, technology, software features, and security issues.

Participates in 24x7 on call rotation.

All other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:
Education or experience equivalent to a four year degree from an accredited college or university, with emphasis on information technology.

A minimum of four to six years technical and/or professional experience in server administration, data networking, firewall administration, or applications development, with a demonstrated knowledge of networking principles or a networking certification.

Advanced experience with at least one of the following: internet security, encryption, identity management, firewalls, intrusion detection, authentication systems (token or biometrics); security certification preferred (SSCP or GSEC).

Proven knowledge of mainframe, database, network, server, and remote connectivity security.

Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management).

Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Ability to work effectively in a diverse work environment.
