IT Security Engineer- Washington, DC, Full Time
Here’s what you can do:
Primarily responsible for analysis of discovered infrastructure and software vulnerabilities to determine risk, impact, drive appropriate remediation strategies. Provide subject matter expertise to:
Support /troubleshoot security related matters for enterprise information systems and network architectures
Implement security policies and procedures.
Demonstrate expertise with a variety of security concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks with limited guidance and supervision. A certain degree of creativity is encouraged.
You should be able to:
Perform system vulnerability scanning and penetration testing using provided tools.
Analyze discovered infrastructure & software vulnerabilities to determine risk, impact and remediation strategies - drive remediation of defects
Assist in providing documentation on security practices and vulnerability mitigation reports.
Maintain Security compliance activities including client and server patching, endpoint protection, configuration management
Manage and maintain the security of IT systems and network architectures through documentation, reporting, and coordination
Ensure systems are operated, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with internal security policies and practices outlined in the security plan
Provide daily, ongoing security oversight of assigned systems as to the security impact of proposed modifications, additions, and technology refresh evolutions via analysis and attending boards
Evaluate and develop approach to solutions while proactively assess items of risk in the systems
Work directly with internal IT staff and customer to establish and enforce IT security best practices, protection objectives, process improvements and effective IT security controls.
Proactively support certification and accreditation activities.
Participate in system reviews to include hardware and software, in-house development and provide recommendations for securing these systems
Analyze and coordinate IT security incidents and perform documentation and reporting
Perform regularly scheduled security reviews (e.g., technology, operations and personnel)
Participate in designing and managing IT Security strategies
You can perform successfully in this position if you have:
3-5 years’ experience
Experienced in security directives, policies, publications and regulations including NIST Security Controls and FISMA
Knowledgeable with Linux, VMware, and Windows servers including virtual machines
Experience in creating System Security Plans
Possess clear understanding of security protocols and standards and have experience with software and security architectures.
Understand how to design and implement security tests in accordance with stated criteria
Knowledgeable with security practices of Intranets/ Extranets
Understanding of protocols, such as, SSL/TLS, CIFS, HTTP/S, DHCP, SMTP, LDAP/S and DNS
Knowledgeable in networking concepts and services, such as, VPNs, IPSec, PKI and TCP/IP
If you possess these minimum position qualifications, we should talk:
