Responsibilities

The IT Specialist provides internal first level support for applications and infrastructure at the Westin Monache Resort. Provides front-line advice service to end-users on software and hardware related problems and actively works to trouble shoot problems related to hardware and software. The position will interact with guests and groups to provide necessary electronic and connectivity solutions.

The IT Specialist will be responsible for the support of our local hardware and software at the Westin Monache. In this role, he/she will use independent judgment and initiative to resolve problems and make recommendations, determining when and if management actions is required and supply a recommendation where appropriate. The ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects at the same time is required.

Although the focus of this position is incident and problem management, it also involves a variety of troubleshooting, system monitoring and call tracking duties. Effective and empathetic interaction with end-users in addition to technical and business support is integral to the role.

Key Responsibilities:

Field incoming help requests from the EIT Help Desk and end users, in local and remote locations, in a courteous manner

Perform PC equipment installs as required

Maintain technical problems history through a ticketing system

Provide training on the operations and functionality of various applications, printers, and systems

Participate in special projects as requested

Work as a remote member of a global team whose responsibility is to provide support for Windows XP Desktops, Windows Servers and local area network under the direction of remote system administrators

Available to provide 24X7 system support as required

Act as a local point of contact for 3 rd party telecom and data network service providers as needed

Provide telecom, desktop and network technical support

Windows XP and Windows 7 installations and troubleshooting

Microsoft Office Support

Ensure compliance with corporate network policies, practices, security measures

Troubleshoot network connectivity issues with the LAN\WAN

Create and Maintain documentation pertaining to the network configuration

Manage hardware inventory

Provide customer service to customers needing service specialized support.

Other:
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.

General Skills Description

Certifications (A+, Network +) (preferred)

Associate or Technical degree in Computer Science or related field

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a fast paced business environment supporting Windows XP/7 desktop and Windows 2000/2003 server operating systems.

Skills and Knowledge

Good knowledge of IT industry trends and software/hardware technologies

Excellent customer service and public contact skills

Strong documentation Skills

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Experience using remote support tools

Hardware and Software troubleshooting experience in environments servicing local and remote users.

Familiarity with Client Management Tools (Microsoft SMS, etc.)

Experience in supporting Microsoft Office Products and Operating Systems

Understanding of network cabling standards, topology and connectivity.

Ability to work in both team environments and as an individual contributor.

Experience with Galaxy Hospitality Reservations System (or other Property Management Systems) is highly desirable
