The University of South Florida, located in Tampa, Florida and a member of the Big East Athletic Conference, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Information Technology (IT) Support Specialist. Reporting to the Athletics IT Manager, position performs technical support for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and its users of computers, peripherals (e.g. printers, scanners, etc.), and other IT devices (e.g. iPhones, Blackberrys, Android O/S mobiles, etc.). In addition, position's duties include, but are not limited to, assisting users with the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and support of information technology hardware and software, preparing recommendations, orders, and upgrades related to department's IT needs, assisting and training department users on IT hardware and software, and updating and developing department IT policies and procedures.
This position plays a key role in the day-to-day management of the department's Apple MacBook program including the support of Mac O/S reimaging, mapping drives, file permissions, upgrades, applications, user accounts, etc. Position may include IT support at selected USF Athletics events. Position is classified as temporary, exempt without fringe benefits. Ability to multi-task on a series of ongoing and concurrent duties and projects, communicate effectively amongst a broad and diverse constituency, provide excellent customer service to internal users, and a desire to learn and remain current on emerging trends and technologies a must.
Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience):
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with four years of experience in related positions. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications (Education & Experience):
Two years of directly related work experience, and an Associate's degree or higher in computer training or a similar information technology field of study. Appropriate experience or IT vocational/technical training and certifications may be considered and substituted for required minimum experience. Ability to work selected nights and weekends at USF Athletics events. Experience or a familiarity of working for an intercollegiate athletics department. Working knowledge of various mobile device platforms (iPhone, Blackberry, Android O/S) and the following Apple MacBook and Microsoft applications: MS Office, Adobe Suite, Mac O/S X 10.4, 10.5, 10.6.
