The System Administrator will analyze, design, direct and perform the development, enhancement, and maintenance of designated systems, applications, programs in a primarily Windows Client/Server environment. The System Administrator will address all security issues within the Windows server environment, based on standard practices and specific requests submitted by application vendors and/or the application administrator. Provide technical assistance and detailed program documentation on the Windows based Information Systems to Supervisors and system/application administrators.

Accountabilities
  • Review and analyze current systems for upgrades, patches, security and processing effectiveness and make recommendations
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and make recommendations for improving or further leveraging these systems
  • Meet with decision makers and systems owners to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve systems issues
  • Lead design sessions in prototyping new systems for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow
  • Identify and establish scope and parameters of systems analysis in order to define outcome criteria and measure-taking actions
  • Manage and administrate over 100 Microsoft Server operating systems and their corresponding or associated software. 90% of Servers run under a 4.1 and 5.1 VMware environment
  • Manage communications and connection solutions, including local area networks, company Web site, intranet, and Internet applications
  • Manage and ensure the integrity of host computers, multiple databases and data transfer
  • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of MS Servers
  • Distribute and supervise server iSCSI storage space allotments on 5 – 8 SAN’s
  • Design and implement disaster recovery plan for operating systems, databases, networks, servers, and software applications
  • Provide on-call technical support to internal ITS Staff of 15 System Administrators and/or Programmer Analysts
  • Analyze system or application usage and plan for growth or increases in network capacity
  • Assess need for any system reconfigurations (minor or significant) and execute them if required
  • Ensure connectivity of all workstations
  • Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure software products and services
  • Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information
  • Establish service level agreements with application and/or server administrators
  • Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights
  • Perform network and security audits
  • Perform and monitor critical system backups on approximately 60 systems
  • Monitor and test server software performance and provide statistics and reports
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements, upgrades, and/or purchases

Requirements
  • College diploma or university degree in the field of business administration, computer science, accounting, or management information systems and 5 years related work experience
  • Certifications in Microsoft Systems a plus
  • Working technical knowledge of networks, Microsoft Severs, and platform operating systems
  • Extensive application support experience with MS Server 2008, SharePoint, Exchange 2010, AD, and SQL
  • Strong knowledge of local area network administration
  • Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with data management
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals
  • Ability to conduct research into software issues and products as required
