Position: IT Technical Support Specialist
Location: Brooklyn, NY

Under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner for Strategic Data and the Director of Information Technology and working closely with the agencys Manager of Emerging Technologies & Information Security Officer, the candidate will be required to:
Assist the Geographic Information Systems Division by providing technical support of desktop and laptop computers, applications, and related technology support includes specification, installation, and testing of computer systems and peripherals within established standards and guidelines.
The selected IT Technical Support Specialist will be required to perform the duties listed below:
Assist GIS Division staff with configurations and the ongoing usability of desktop computers, peripheral equipment and software within established standards and guidelines, including troubleshooting issues with software, hardware, and operating systems
Work with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software
Maintain desktop and laptop images and administering software patches
Maintain the integrity of the technology inventory system
Work with procurement staff to prepare hardware and software purchase requests, if needed.
Support other OEM divisions as assigned by Director of IT
Other duties may be assigned

The candidate must be familiar with the following:
ESRI ArcGIS Suite, including ArcMap, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Server
AutoCAD, Autodesk Map 3D
Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 R2
Office 2003, Office 2010
Basic administration of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 and IIS 7

The candidate must possess the following:
Helpdesk software experience
Virtualization Experience, VMware preferred
iOS/Android Device Experience, Blackberry support preferred


The preferred candidate should have:
Strong initiative and ability to perform with little supervision
Ability to identify needs of end users and communicate possible solutions to them
Exceptional analytical skills and problem solving skills
Excellent communication skills
Detailed oriented, as well as excellent multitasking skills a plus
