THE POSITION

Under administrative direction of the City Manager, this position plans, coordinates, and supervises the activities of the water and maintenance functions of the City and Indio Water Authority; oversees the water facilities and water programs; performs other related duties as required.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The City of Indio is looking for a seasoned professional with a background in California water issues to be the General Manager of the Indio Water Authority. The ideal candidate for this position will be a highly organized, decisive and innovative leader with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Candidates must be committed to providing leadership that will inspire, motivate and empower staff to achieve established goals. This person must instill a culture that maximizes both staff and resources. Candidates must have a proven track record of achieving established goals and be comfortable contributing in an innovative and progressive organization.

The General Manager will be a collaborative manager, with unquestioned integrity in his or her commitment to leading staff and fulfilling the full range of responsibilities for this position. The selected individual for this position will manage with an energetic and enthusiastic style that encourages teamwork, and is eager to excel at providing exceptional customer service with an ongoing commitment to serving the public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
The required qualification is to possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, Engineering, or a closely related field. A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is desirable.

Experience:
The required qualification is to possess six (6) years of broad and extensive experience in water operations, including three (3) years of administrative or supervisory capacity. Municipal government experience is preferred.

License/Certificate:
Possession of a valid Class C California driver’s license. Possession of Water Distribution Operator Certification with the California Department of Health Services Grade 4 or higher and/or a valid certification of registration as a Professional Engineer issued by the State Board of Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers are desirable.
