The primary purpose of this position is to act as a liaison between our manufacturing plants (internal and external) and the Supply Chain team in regards to production planning and sourcing. This encompasses managing short, mid and long term capacity plans as well as leading the other operations functions to create the most cost effective product sourcing plans. This person also needs to create, improve and maintain the tools to manage capacity and performance data as well as perform analyses on this data. This role is the key contact in resolving day to day capacity and sourcing issues. In addition this person can lead various cross-functional projects.

Responsibilities:

1)Short and Mid-term Capacity Management:

Maintain accurate data on the plants capacity commitments for the 1 year horizon

Communicate up to date information every week to the Supply Chain team

Resolution of day-to-day production scheduling issues and recommendation of optimum production and batch size to maximize capacity and minimize losses. Escalate those issues when necessary.

2) Long Term Capacity Management:

Maintains a 5 year capacity plan that is updated every year in the End Game process

Prepares the capacity analysis (CUTE charts and specific analyses) for new line capital requests

3) Product Sourcing Analysis and Recommendations (Budget and GPS process):

Based on capacity and variable cost of production, determines the best possible sourcing each time volume demand forecast is updated.

Key participant in budget, E1 and End Game development as well as operations committee

4) Capacity and Performance Data Maintenance and Analysis:

Maintain manufacturing data such as Operations Efficiency and Operations Utilization by plant to track and update capacity and performance

Benchmark current process for project management and recommend improvement in tracking, reporting and prioritization

5) Other Projects:

-Coordinate additional ad hoc manufacturing projects including productivity projects or simple new launches. In those cases:

-Participate in the definition of the scope of each project, providing manufacturing inputs to propose solutions that are cost effective, quick to market and will provide quality product.

-Link with the plants and the engineering team to establish feasibility of the chosen solution.

-Determine all the industrial activities that need to be performed to carry out the project.

-Manage or perform the all the industrial activities determined for each project: (using plant teams and engineering team as resources)

-Lead plant and engineering project team to execute the project at the plant level

-Lead the preparation of capital investment justification for each project

-Keep the cross functional team informed of the progress on the industrial activities and declare breakdowns when they happen and work with the team to find breakthroughs.

-Prepare and present project updates for upper level management of the organization and plants (including various committees)

-Interface with R&D, SSD and Supply Chain Planning for proper flow of communication and transition of responsibility to plants for new product launches.

-Follow-up with new products and renovations to propose corrective actions to issues after launch if necessary (lead cross-functional team to carry-out those actions) as well as propose and implement improvement to the project management process.

Job Dimension

Manage sourcing over 1.5 billions lbs of production annually over 3 internal and 3 external factories

Participate/Manage cross-functional teams of 10-12 people

Key contribution in preparing financial justification of large capital projects ($10 to 50 million)

Regular interventions at committees involving Dannon Exectutive Committee members

Regularly negotiate and resolve problems with people of various functions at least one or 2 level above

Influence the achievement of the manufacturing plant’s objectives ($5 to 10 million productivity per year, controllable cost, etc.) through the proper execution of projects and capacity planning

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree (BS), Engineering preferred

MBA or equivalent is a plus
Minimum of 3 years Manufacturing/Operations experience in the field and corporate level (preferably in CPG).

Good understanding of our current manufacturing network capability and minimum technical knowledge to be able to assess feasibility of new ideas.

Strong Analytical Skills with focus on problem-solving

Very strong computer skills is a must (Excel in particular)

Effectively communicates throughout the several different levels of the organization.

Requires basic technical knowledge of manufacturing dairy process and packaging equipment

Understanding of basic company operations theory (demand planning, manufacturing and related systems, logistics and distribution)

Presentation skills that can influence and lead organizations to a decision.

Ideally some experience in Project Management/Leadership
