** The Industrial Design Shop is open Monday through Friday (occasional Saturdays) 8:30 am - 10 pm. Must be flexible and willing to work weekend, morning or night hours.
This is a part-time position, 40 hours/week for 37 weeks/yr. Work is available only when school is in session: 15 weeks in the fall semester, 15 weeks in the spring semester, and 7 weeks in the summer semester.
Work with a great group of creative-minded “gear heads”, assisting in the day-to-day operation of a state-of-the-art fabrication and painting shop facility. Be involved in assisting college Industrial Design students to construct their original projects in our wood, metal, machine, plastics, and paint shops, as they turn their exciting concepts into real prototypes. Responsibilities range from handing out tools and solid advice to maintaining machinery and mixing paint and dispensing resins. This is an optimal opportunity for artists with fabrication experience who enjoys toys, furniture, cars and new product development.
Knowledge of some shop tools a must.
Knowledge in the following four shop areas a plus: plastic, wood, metal, and paint.
Ideal candidate will have strong working knowledge of Industrial Design and enjoy sharing this with a diverse student population.
Excellent customer service skills a must.
Candidates must be safety minded.
Familiarity with spray painting and/or prototype fabrication is a big plus!
Hourly Rate: $13.75
This position includes the following benefits : one tuition free undergraduate class per semester, paid sick leave accrual, a limited health insurance plan, and a 401K plan after one year of service (pending completion of the required minimum hours of work)
