Industrial Engineering Manager:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage larger cross functional projects from design to implementation.
Manage a mixture of large and small projects to improve utilization, efficiency, and yield in food processing operations.
Lead cross-functional and cross-site improvement teams with demonstrated ability to gain team commitment.
Manage and direct the activities of the industrial engineering group.
Hire and train additional IE’s as positions are approved.
Set goals and objectives for performance improvements for the IE’s.
Measure the value that the IE’s provide to MFI to be used as justification for additional IE positions, benefits to include quality improvements, service improvements and cost savings.
Apply knowledge of industrial engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
Develop and champion new initiatives in manufacturing methods and labor utilization standards directed toward continuous improvements and cost reduction efforts.
Conduct equipment utilization and capacity studies and provide recommendations to cost justify, purchase and improve capital equipment to support manufacturing.
Provide leadership in the implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma techniques. Apply ergonomic techniques to improve the working conditions in manufacturing.
Coordinate quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems and maximize product reliability.
Lead efforts to attain maximum efficiency, reduce equipment setup/changeover time and increase productivity.
Provide input into short- and long-term departmental planning.
Travel up to 50%.
Other projects as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, and one (1) year of experience in a food processing environment.
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Microsoft Project, and SAP.
Proven ability to use Operations Research tools such as Simulation and Optimizations. Knowledge of Arena and Excel Solver are highly desirable.
Working knowledge of cost accounting, gathering production information, production scheduling and inventory management.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication.
