Provides technical advice and mitigation techniques on the prevention, occupational health and safety and work place hazards.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education/

Work Experience

Bachelor ’ s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Occupational

Health, or another related field.

Masters degree in Industrial Hygiene or another related field.

Three years of professional experience in occupational health and

safety.

OR

An approved equivalent combination of education and experience

Knowledge/ Skills/Abilities

Possess organizational, analytical, verbal and written communication

skills. Knowledge of human factors, Just Culture, and other safety

principles and general performance improvement methodologies. Ability to deal

professionally, appropriately and effectively with

sensitive and confidential information.

Ability to support a non-punitive environment that encourages

reporting and develops an open voluntary reporting culture. Ability to collaborate and

to facilitate collaboration with groups in

problem solving, consensus building and initiating action in a respectful, timely manner.

Preferred Qualifications Experience in a hospital setting.

Experience with hazardous waste in a medical setting .

License/

Certifications CIH preferred.

Responsibilities:

C oordinates, implements, and monitors the Industrial Hygiene Program to include performing a combination of duties to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations. Implement proactive risk identification and reduction strategies.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Implementing industrial hygiene monitoring instructions and procedures for workplace safety. Such procedures may include, but are not limited to: Respiratory Protection, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Confined Space Entry, Hazard Communication, Radiation Safety, Laser Safety, and Hearing Conservation.

Perform inspections, audits and investigation of the work environment to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and to ensure a healthy working environment. Make recommendations on solutions to improve deficiencies.

Oversee and or conduct air monitoring, noise, illumination and ventilation surveys and completing required documentation in accordance with established procedures.

Conduct employee training, determine effective controls or PPE requirements, and work with management to implement corrective action to ensure employees are not overexposed to harmful or toxic substance while in the facility.

Serve as point of contact for interpretations of industrial hygiene regulations and procedures. Maintain all industrial hygiene monitoring, and sampling equipment to ensure calibration and appropriate working condition.

Conducts safety incident investigations with managers to determine root cause and identify corrective actions to prevent a reoccurrence.
