Shift: 3rd Shift 11pm – 7am Sunday – Thursday
(Upon successful completion of initial 1st shift training period)

Reports To: Plant Engineer
Perform all phases of Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance throughout the plant, safely and effectively. Meet all company, state and local regulations/policies.
1.) Perform preventative, corrective and emergency Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance on all equipment throughout the plant under the direction of the Plant Engineer such as welding, piping, new installations, and rebuilding of existing equipment.
2.) Locate, troubleshoot, and repair Mechanical and Electrical malfunctions throughout the plant which includes full documentation of all tasks completed through the use of the plant work order reporting system as well as reporting of all mechanical and electrical malfunctions to the Plant Engineer.
3.) Perform fire watch duties where necessary for both internal employees as well as contracted service firms.
4.) Perform proper LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures when servicing mechanical and electrical equipment.
5.) Ensure the completion of assigned work orders based on priority and plant equipment schedules.
6.) Actively participate in all plant related Safety training and informational sessions as assigned by the Plant Engineer.
7.) Respond to emergency call-in needs as well as work overtime hours which may lie outside of the normal weekly work schedule when required.
8.) Oversee contracted service firm workers when necessary and verify that they follow plant rules and policies in regards to PPE and Proper Safety Practices.
9.) Maintain all necessary personal work tools which allow for proper completion of routine Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance and Repair tasks.
10.) Ensure that all tools which are the property of Hilex Poly are maintained properly and securely placed after use.
11.) Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times.
12.) Maintain and enforce all Hilex Poly standard safety procedures.

Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements:
1.) Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) with strong Mechanical and Electrical aptitude required. College/Technical or Trade School degree preferred.
2.) Possess Mechanical knowledge in order to diagnose and correct mechanical issues within the plant.
3.) Possess Electrical knowledge (including PLC experience) in order to diagnose and correct electrical issues within the plant.
4.) Ability to operate MIG (GMAW) & Stick (SMAW) welding equipment as well as Oxy-Acetylene Torches.
5.) Ability to fit pipe and use equipment tools.
6.) Hold a working knowledge of all general shop equipment and hand tools including but not limited to drill presses, bench and hand held grinders, band saws, belt sanders, milling equipment as well as all types’ portable power tools.
7.) Knowledge of proper cutting and rigging techniques
8.) Ability to identify operational inconsistencies and hazards in the workplace and display proper judgment in responding to them.
9.) Ability to read and comprehend instructional manual, MSDS sheets, SDS Sheets, technical data sheets, work orders, machine prints, electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
10.) Ability to work directly from mechanical and electrical drawings.
11.) Thorough knowledge and understanding of occupational hazards connected with machine shop and general plant practices with strong emphasis on the necessity of safety policy compliance.
12.) Ability to work varying shifts, weekends, holidays, on call duty as well as emergency call-ins.
13.) Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers, management, office staff, as well as outside contractors and other agencies.
14.) Ability to use computer programs such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Cad type drafting packages and maintenance tracking software packages.
15.) Ability to effectively communicate and follow instructions given either verbally or in writing.
16.) Ability to do basic reading, writing, and arithmetic.
