Chevron’s Information Technology Company is looking for an experienced Information Architect to join its internal information technology team. The successful candidate will be challenged to drive IT resources for maximum long term business impact through the effective use of architecture.
The Information Architect will be a member of the Data Management & Integration team within the Process, Application & Data Assets department. The major focus includes architecting, implementing, and supporting database, data warehouse, data integration, data quality, metadata and master data management solutions for improving, protecting and managing business critical data assets. The candidate will work closely with the business unit’s embedded IT teams, Upstream Capability, ITC PAD delivery, and Information Architecture teams to assess and plan technology needs, timelines, and coordinate deployment of architecturally compliant solutions.

The successful candidate must be an experienced leader, highly skilled, motivated, and results driven, who enjoys a challenging environment, and is able to work independently. The successful candidate must understand the work processes and information needs of enterprise architects and demonstrate the ability to collaborate with other architects and business leaders. Experience in Information Architecture, including strategy development, governance framework, Information Architecture, and Integration technology design and deployment is highly desirable.
This position reports to the team lead of the Analysis & Requirements team.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Partners with business, IT product managers, embedded IT and ITC teams to develop strategies for the selection, deployment and use of database, data integration, data quality, metadata, master data management technologies in alignment with 5-year Information Management Asset Lifecycle Management (ALCM) plans.
Champions Data Management and Information Architecture strategies and standards across Chevron business units
Establish and maintain architectural standards (architecture for operational and decision support environments, tool/technology recommendations, and master data management strategies).
Coordinate and partner with Information and Data Architects to manage emerging digitized information platforms with the convergence of structured and unstructured data.
Facilitate the development of a taxonomy and metadata strategy to enrich information for enhanced information manageability and access.
Tools/Techniques employed: Information/Business Function Modeling, Metadata Repository, and Architecture Diagrams.
Guides architecture reviews of IT solutions (as requested). Guide the analysis of alternate solutions in enterprise architecture and facilitate dialog to gather stakeholder input on proposed decisions.
Coordinate with key operations groups and partner with Emerging Technology groups to investigate and adopt new information management technologies and manage lifecycle of mature technologies
Employ Tools/Techniques: Information/Business Function Modeling, Metadata Repository, and Architecture Diagrams.
BS Degree in IT Systems and/or a related engineering discipline is required.
At least 5+ years in architecture, strategy, management and/or a similarly related area preferably in the Oil and Gas industry
Experience with Information Management and technology strategy planning.
Recent experience in develop information models – high level categorization of business data and relationship among categories as-well-as between categories and business processes.
Recent experience in develop data models to model business data according to business rules and policies governing data relationship.
Recent experience in using modeling tool, for example, IBM System Architect, Erwin, Visio.
Strong Communication, Change Management, and Facilitation skills with demonstrated ability to engage business and technical audiences. Demonstrated ability to discern the information aspects of diverse business requirements and communicate these to business leaders.
MS/MA Degree in IT Systems and/or a related engineering discipline is desired.
