What does an Information Architect (IA) do for Hayneedle?
As an Information Architect you will work closely with our User Experience Architect and Online Product Manager to design ecommerce applications for the web and mobile devices. You will be intimately involved from beginning to end of each project, specifically focusing on the beginning ideation and conceptualization, IA development, user testing processes and prototype development. You will also have a role in ensuring that the final functionality of each project works as intended by being involved in our project approval processes. The right candidate will be focused on the approach to architecting the experience, not on programming.

Key Responsibilities:
Create web based user interaction paradigms and navigation methods.
Construct wireframes, site maps, schematics, process maps, and mockups.
Understand and effectively construct solutions for each and every application scenario on every project.
Participate in the development of working high fidelity prototypes for usability testing.
Observe customers in usability testing.
Report to the User Experience Architect.

What basic qualifications will our Information Architect (IA) need to have?

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
2+ years of experience as an information architect, interaction designer or experience designer (or similar role) required.
Possess a keen understanding of human-computer interaction.
Have strong Interaction Design skills (IA and UI), visual design sensibilities.
Expert knowledge of HTML and CSS is required.
Proficient with JavaScript and JavaScript libraries (jQuery preferred).
Knowledge of architecture-related software (Illustrator, Visio, Photoshop, MS Office, Acrobat, Dreamweaver).
Excellent prioritization, organization, and time management skills.
Strategic thinking skills: ability to interpret why customers behave the way they do when navigating a real web site.
Proactive work style – proactively communicates with teams, follows up on issues, and brings projects to closure.
