The information architect develops and maintains information architecture for the organization to enable knowledge worker productivity, improve customer experience, and business decision making with accurate, timely, and consistent information, structured and unstructured, internal and external. The role works with enterprise and service architects, technology brokers, business partners, and external service providers, to ensure new capabilities comply with the information architecture.

This position will also be responsible for architecting SQL Server databases supporting mission critical high availability applications. The ideal candidate will be independently driven, highly motivated, being resourceful to deliver results with minimal direction, and have the ability to function as a team player and handle multiple competing priorities in a dynamic, fast paced environment.

Strategic Responsibilities
  • Creates the information architecture and information management strategy for the organization
  • Ensures that information architecture and information management strategy creates a foundation for future investment in business intelligence and collaboration
  • Collaborates with business, service, and enterprise architects to understand the implications of respective architectures on information architecture and maximize the value of information across the organization
  • Supports business and IT capabilities for managing and integrating unstructured information across media platforms i.e., wikis, blogs, instant messaging, etc. and traditional sources such as e-mail and SharePoint
  • Collaborates with user experience specialists to develop design specifications that will improve the performance, usability, and effectiveness of customer facing interfaces
  • Maintains a holistic view of information assets by creating and maintaining blueprints that illustrate how information is stored, processed, and accessed

    Tactical Responsibilities
  • SQL Server 2005/2008 database design, ensuring performance, availability, and security
  • Data modeling and initial database optimization
  • Performance monitoring and tuning
  • Data replication, mirroring, and archiving
  • Database standards enforcement
  • Work closely with development teams to identify any potential issues in their design
  • Implementation and release of database changes as submitted by the development team
  • Maintaining and improving databases, including rollouts and upgrades
  • Managing database scripts/codes with version control tool
  • Document database standards and best practices
  • Using ERwin Data Modeler tool to model, generate scripts, and compare models with physical databases

  • Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in computer science, management information systems, or related discipline
  • More than five years of experience in information architecture or minimum five to seven years experience as data analyst, business intelligence analyst, or equivalent roles
  • Knowledge in user experience modeling, information design, and concept generation
  • 5+ years of experience in database architecture/administration
  • 3+ years of solid SQL Server 2005/2008 experience including SSIS and SSRS
  • 3+ years of ERwin Data Modeler experience
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server 2012 is a plus
  • Experience working with Windows Server 2003/2008 platform
  • Excellent T/SQL coding skills and the ability to maintain complex stored procedures
  • In depth experience installing, upgrading, configuring, and maintaining SQL Server database objects in development, test, staging, and production environments
  • Experience in finding and fixing performance issues
  • Experience in analyzing explain plans and trace files
  • Designed logical and physical databases schemas of 500+ tables for OLTP and analytical purposes using relational and dimensional modeling, including the design of tables, relationships, index strategy, and referential integrity
  • Reverse engineered production databases for analysis/re-factor, including the analysis of tables, relationships, index strategy, and referential integrity
  • Used advance SQL Server features including SSIS, replication, mirroring, and full text indexes
  • Developed and used scripts to implement processes and build/deploy objects using T/SQL
  • Highly effective collaboration skills and ability to operate across organizational disciplines
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be well organized
